About

I am a California state licensed speech and language pathologist with 8 years of experience in both the medical and school based setting. I am certified by the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and a member of the California State Hearing Association (CASHA).

With both my clinical and musical background, I have treated a wide range of children with neurological impairments, voice disorders, resonance disorders, processing delays, genetic syndromes, and motor speech impairments.

I have worked with children from 0-5 exclusively for the past 3 years as I believe early intervention services are critical for a child’s development.

My vast skill set specific to “the whole child” involves utilizing multiple modality approaches (touch, sound, visual, and motor feedback) . I am trained in PROMPT, which allows me to use tactile cueing to change motor speech challenges such as, articulation errors, phonological disorders, and Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS).

Looking at your child’s development across all stages, not only speech and language, I take a wider view of how social-emotional, cognitive development, sensory needs, feeding issues, and behavior are affecting your child’s growth. Going even further, I utilize techniques that include musical tone, rhythm, and intonation as recent studies have shown how music plays an integral part in language and cognitive development.

Answering the “Why”  behind my approach to therapy is imperative. I welcome questions from you (the parents) so that you can be certain your child’s treatment is held to the highest regard with evidence-based practice standards. I want to empower you to have the tools needed to help your child when I am not present. I believe in a functional therapy approach, building skills that will help decrease the frustrations that parents and children encounter throughout the day.

This system takes the frustration out of your child learning how to speak. It incorporates evidence based principles for speech, language, cognitive, and social development and looks at all of your child’s strengths to help target their areas of need. Your child will want to practice through singing along to fun songs that are arranged/organized in a way to promote systematic growth moving from syllables to word productions within the same session for long term deeply ingrained results. Your child will love using musical instruments and moving to the rhythm of the beat. Their speech will become automatized and you will love the results you see with your child as they want to engage and communicate with you.
